49. Title & Author: A Mormon in the White House? (Ten Things Every American Should Know About Mitt Romney) by Hugh Hewitt (292 pages)Genre: Nonfiction--Politics & Current Events
Completed: 4 August 2008
Summary & Review:
Hugh Hewitt, a prominent conservative blogger and talk-radio host, wrote this book to try and dispel any qualms people may have in regard to voting for Mitt Romney for president. Now why in the world would anyone not vote for Romney? Because he's Mormon. Never mind the fact that he has a JD and an MBA from Harvard, that he is an astoundingly successful businessman, that he saved a failing Olympics and turned it into a major success, or that he was an excellent governor in a liberal state--all that, I guess, doesn't matter to many in this country because of his private and personal beliefs.
Hewitt did a good job of arguing this topic and pointing out how ridiculous it is that people wouldn't vote for Romney because he is LDS. Unfortunately though, that is exactly what happened and Romney had to drop out of the presidential race. When my mom loaned me this book she said it would frustrate me, and she was right. Reading this, you realize how great of a president Romney could have been, and now, knowing it won't happen, makes you a little upset at the American people and American media.
Rating: 6.5 (Not because it wasn't good, but because I couldn't enjoy reading it!)
