498. Title & Author: Lost and Found by Orson Scott Card (281 pages)
Genre: Fiction--Adventure
Completed: 2 April 2020
Summary & Review:
While walking to school one day, Ezekiel Blast is joined by a girl who, despite his best attempts to ditch her, will not leave him alone. As the two become friends, the girl helps Ezekiel hone his special skill: the ability to return any lost object to its owner. Little does Ezekiel know that soon he will have to use that skill to find the most important lost thing he’s ever tried to find: his new friend.
Card always does a great job with adolescent characters. He created a pair of protagonists with depth and substance in a fairly short book. Lately I’ve read several books by Card that are fantasies, like Pathfinder (#252) and The Lost Gate (#429), and while this book played around with some aspects of fantasy, like having special abilities, Card kept the story rooted in reality.
