Summary & Review:
William Mandella is a gifted physicist student that gets drafted into the existential war against a mysterious alien foe lightyears away. As Mandella serves his conscription in the UNEF and undergoes the time warping effects of relativistic space travel, his old home soon becomes alien to him.
This book won both the Hugo and Nebula awards so I was pretty excited to read it. Plus, the intro mentioned how this book and Starship Troopers were THE landmarks of military science fiction. To be honest, I don't think it lived up to my anticipation. It was a decent book, but strangely paced and the plot meandered quite a bit. At least there was a happy, satisfying ending.
