Summary & Review:
Without warning, the PLA of China swarms across the strait and invades an outlying Taiwanese island, the first strike in a seeming total invasion of Taiwan. With intelligence filtering into the CIA saying that China now possesses the capability to sink a US Navy carrier, the Red Cell division is tasked with figuring out what that weapon might be. With the help of a highly placed source within the Chinese secret intelligence service, Kyra Stryker and Jonathan Burke discover that China has finally developed a capable stealth fighter. Will this turn the tide in the struggle between China and the United States for dominance in the Pacific?

This is author Mark Henshaw’s debut novel, and it was a strong first book. I have read a lot of thrillers—that is basically all my father reads and he has passed along many over the years for me to read—and this one was well above average. Henshaw is a former CIA analyst so he had a unique inside perspective as to how the intelligence world works. Plus, his being an alumnus of BYU didn’t hurt. The plot was good, especially because it was extremely plausible and Henshaw created likeable characters within the scenario to carry the action. I look forward to reading more from him.
