Genre: Fiction—Fantasy
Completed: 26 May 2013
Summary & Review:
The three Callahan children live a sheltered and structured life. They are confined to their rooms all day except for a one hour dinner time with their parents. While they have all the material things they could wish for, they lack adventure, purpose, and most importantly a real relationship with their parents. But, when they discover a secret enchanted passageway that leads them to North Mystic, the hidden home of the Leprechauns, they learn that they are the long awaited saviors of these people. Using their innate skills and abilities, along with the help of the Leprechauns, they prepare to battle and defeat the Trolls who have oppressed the little village and its inhabitants for hundreds of years.
This is my mom’s third published fantasy book, and the first one not a part of the Mist Trilogy. I really liked this one, especially because I was able to see the growth of my mother as an author. She tried a very different style of prose and presentation in this book and it was a fun change. The story was incredibly creative and the settings were described so effectively that it was easy to picture them. Unfortunately, my mom told me this one wasn’t going to be part of a series so you only get this one chance to enjoy these characters.
