213. Title & Author: True Blue by David Baldacci (588 pages)*
Genre: Fiction—Thriller
Completed: 25 January 2012

Summary & Review:
Mace Perry was one of D.C.’s toughest young cops, but after she is convicted of crimes she didn’t commit, she is kicked off the force and thrown in jail. When her two year sentence is finally up, she returns to Washington to try and work her way back into a police uniform. Her plan: to solve the gruesome murder of a wealthy lawyer whose body was left in her firm’s refrigerator. With another of the firm’s lawyers and her police chief sister as backup, Mace uncovers a conspiracy that reaches into the highest reaches of the American intelligence community.

This wasn’t one of Baldacci’s best novels. I wasn’t particularly engaged by any of the main characters and the plot line was unnecessarily dense. Plus, it seemed like Baldacci was periodically taking random potshots at certain political issues without any rhyme or reason. Strange.
